Mmmmmmm....

Post by VTRPiG »

It all started last night on the way home when the bike felt really heavy on the steering. Turning a corner was pretty hard work so all the bad sh*te was going through my head...shock might be buggared, swingarm bearings gone, head stock bearing gone. As none of these things have even happened to me I have no idea how they feel so was just throwing out random thoughts all the was home. I did think if it could of been a puncture but that was the first thing j checked...tyre looks good!!!

Woke up the morning and the tyre wasn't good at all!!! Completely flat, don't think it was that flat on the way home but never know as the bike handled like cr*p. so wife need to drop me off at work but then the car packed in and I was already late as it was so couldn't get the train. So with long teeth the wife handed me the keys to her beloved R6  :D . Bare in mind I'm 6'5ft and the bike has also been lowered for my 5'2ft missus 8O . It was a good first 10 miles of the trip in but the last 6 was pretty painful :eek2  . So looking forward to thrive home, well the first 10 miles or so that is

It's the first time I have ridden it out on the road was pretty impressed with home easy it is to ride and how balanced it is. I've only been riding for 2 years and the wife has been on two wheels for over 10 years. Must admit I am drawn a little now to the il4's very smooth and just as fast. But couldn't help think there was something missing

Torque and character.

VTR's are very sensitive to tyre pressures. The slightest decrease and you will start to feel it on the steering.

It was an even more enjoyable ride home, minus the cramping

There is definitely something to be said for 2 cylinders over 4 :D.

Now where to find a little extra cash to buy a il4 :D

il4's have no soul.
i'd like to ride a more modern v-twin or triple to see if it can match the storm for fun, character and soul.
i've ridden a few modern il4's, most recently a mate zx10r, tbh it wasn't fun, yes it'll tear your arms off with its power, but it wasn't involving. i like the fact that mordern bikes handle better, they're more neutral and of course everything is tighter. but when i jump on my bike i know its little quirks and its all part of its character.
and i still stand by my statement that a road bike doesn't need more than 110bhp
