Help re-fitting Exhausts

Post by t00lkit »

MOT is due later this week and I am putting the original cans back on the storm.

Thing is I can't remember how they hang!!

Do the exhaust brackets/plate for the rear foot peg hangers sit on the outside or inside?

Likewise for the hangers behind the gear and back brake pedals, does the mounting plate go on the inside or outside of the 'thing you put the bolt through'?

Been that long I cannot remember.

Before you ask, the mounting loops for the Scorpions sit both sides of the rear foot peg hanger. So different fitting.

Help, I need to put them back on tomorrow.

The bracket on the exhaust pipes fits on the inside of the gear change and back brake pedal mounting points (I remember this because when I got my bike 2nd hand someone had not fitted them right) can't remember about the rear footrest mounting points, but if you fit the front one's first, stand behind bike and see how things are lining up, then from that you should be able to see where they fit on the hangers, good luck,

Chris.

Before you go to the grief of swapping them over try taking it into wherever you are getting the test done & asking if they want you to put the standard ones on or if they'll pass it with the race cans on - some will, some won't.

I've not had to change my ARTs for the last 3 mots - a couple of times for the Essex Stasi's defect rectification notices but thats a different matter.

Definitely worth a try.

Thanks boys, cans back on now.

Rattler, I did ask at the garage if I could leave the cans on and they said no, but it was over the phone so they could have been covering, just in case. Touble is, I haven't the time during the day to take the bike back, so I've swapped them any way.

Got the originals back on thanks. Thing is, front gear lever side seems to fit on the outside, but the front brake side fits on the inside! Not sure the lhs is fitted right, but its only 4 a day, and no gases are escaping!

Getting the CCT's checked at the same time. Paranoia rules...

Thanks again for the time and trouble.
