Hi Everyone...
Hi Everyone...
A firm handshake to all fellow VTR owners...
My name is Andy, I'm married with 2 kids and today I have taken ownership of a black 1998 VTR with 18k miles on the clock. I am back on the saddle after a 5 year break from bikes, after previously owning an R1.
I have decided to try the mighty V twin after years of owning screamin 4's, and after my ride out today it put a smile on my face.
However, I've been doing my homework and need to take the great advice on this forum and change the CCT's, and I'd appreciate it if somebody could give me info on where to buy the manual ones?
Also I noticed today, she was running a little warm around town, is this normal? I know its 25 degrees but I hear that water pump problems are common too with these bikes? I'm probably panicking over nothing.
I would appreciate any advice, this is a great forum and look forward to years of participation.
Thanks again
Andy

Re: Hi Everyone...
Welcome Andy,
These bikes do get quite warm especially if you have a fairing lower. The fan should kick in just past the half way mark on the temperature gauge.
Here's a link on your options for manual CCT's

Welcome Andy, I have just bought a vtr after a screaming 4 and I must say its a dream to ride. Power delivery is amazing although it did nearly catch me out today with a little to much throttle coming out of a bend ! :-) . Looking to do my cct soon so good luck mate.

Re: Hi Everyone...
welcome to the forum doc.........
i've not heard of water pump problems myself, as has been said the temp guage should sit at just above halfway when the fan kicks in.....
cct's can be bought via bazza on this forum, or online from krieger or ape.
have fun with ya bike, its a completely different beast to an il4, a bit of a marmite bike, you either love it or hate it.
personally i can't see myself going back to an il4 after riding a characterful v-twin.......
