CCT !!!!!

Post by yellafella »

Bloody hell !!!!!
Took the bike out this morning and noticed an unusual engine noise !!! Tick ticking !!!! Not all the time but noticeable. Suspect front cct failure, did'nt go much further, took it straight to my mechanic who almost insisted on Honda parts !!! Told him to get em from David Silvers or i'd go somewhere else !!!
Rang my uncle (who i got the bike from ) and asked him when they were changed last. Get this ! 6000 miles ago !!!!!!
And they were genuine Honda parts done under warranty ! He had to have the top ends done, valves, etc
Think icaught these little suckers in time !
So thats two sets of cct's in 20,000 miles !!!!!
So . . . off the road for a week !!!! Bummer !!!!!

Talking to ' the man ' tonight at my regular, and reckons he took the bike out ( couldnt hear nowt ). His ' top mechanic ', took the bike out for a good run and heard only a slight clutch noise while in neutral !
Now i know what i heard and it was while riding, in gear and i'd never heard it before so now i am worrieed !
Gonna take it somewhere else !
Any thoughts you guys ?

When you heard this noise was the bike on the over run (slowing down with the engine braking) or was it heard when the engine was working hard as in accelerating :?:

From what i recall i was just cruising cos i was head down listening to see if i could identify it. Would imagine cct's would make more noise on overrun as this would be slackest point for chain to slap ?

My VTR started to make a noise which you could hear when slowing down, and changing down when IE coming up to a tee junction, the noise I heard could be best described as a slapping noise. However when I went to change mine both CCT springs were OK not broken (I still replaced them anyway) but the slapping noise i'd heard had gone,
