You can't beat the 1999 R1, mine was a total beast. Of course this is just my opinion, it may be wrong :lol:

its mad looking at the figures how its gone from 133.43bhp in 1998 to 187.63bhp at the wheels in 2010 (54.2bhp jump)

yet torque hasn't moved much from the 1998 R1 - 73.76 ft lbs to 81.82 ft lbs (8.06 ft lbs)

Interesting reading. The R1 was always a favourite of mine. S1000 is a animal though.

I voted R1 on Mcn's website.

The crossplane R1 you guys got is way more powerful than our version (which typically dynoes at about 146 hp).... same for the latest gen ZX-10R, the NA version are limited at high revs (though a re-flash of the ECUs can overcome Big Brother's efforts)......

All massively desirable bikes in there time and still good second hand machines
but just so we don't feel too left out looking at all those bike specs I'd like to remind everyone the Firestorm can still hold it's head high by being within 0.2 seconds of those 0-60 times :D

I seem to recall reading that when it was first introduced the Firestorm had the fastest 0-60 time of any production motorcycle.

I have the official honda advert/magazine/leaflet thingy or whatever for the firestorm hanging around somewhere in my room. not sure where I put it exactly after we moved out from the ol' house, but I digress. They got 0-60 in something like 2.8s with some BSB or WSB rider in testing, apparently.

Off the top of my head (considering I haven't seen in this sheet in 2 months. I'll search and update when I get home);

0-60 : 2.8
0-100 : 9.7s
0-155.6 : 36.31s

Don't forget mate those are not real world, those are most likely the best times honda could get with a top rider on board, these times in MCN are real world tests

there is some true figures for the storm somewhere i posted them a while back, it was in the mid 3's i think not bad, but in the same test they had the K6 1000 gixxer in low 2's

you would have to be pretty used to launching the bike to get those starts

Oh yeah, I know that much. But even so the 1198 Panigale's 0-60 is also 2.8 in perfect conditions too, Honda definitely did the firestorm right in that department it seems. Considering not many companies should (theoretically) know V-Twins like Ducati, and the 1198 is only a few years old now I think?
