Please help its the cam chain now???
I have been told that i need to get my cam chains done, my cct's are fully out and i just went to change them and have been told that they need to be done as my ccts are fully out. The guy who told me didnt really have an idea of the price but he said it is gona be around £500, any one had this done or know how to do it or where to get it done cheap. I thought they lasted quite a while but it has done less than 14000miles, the guy who told me has wanted the bike for ages and now he said he will do a straight swap for his sv650, which i am riding at the mo, wombles me chicken chaser. Please any help or tips advice will be great. Thanks a lot!!!!!!

14000?
14000? NO WAY chains gone. Unless he did something deliberately.
Or raced it on GP.
Yes, and BTW - CCTs can not be fully out, there is about 20 mm of spare movement even when chains completely slackened.
Worst closest thing is CC tensioning blades, but you have to run bike with no oil or do something really bad to wear those in 14000

4 wheels moving body, 2 wheels moving soul
Ok update, he has just rang me and said that he is going to need to get the timing sorted out on it because he messed it up when he taken out the CCT's, which is going to cost £250 just to get right without changing anything which he said he will pay but he said if any damage has been done to the engine then it is gona be between £600 and £1200. Can this much damage be done just if the timing is out, he said it may have jumped a tooth but he wont know until he gets it all checked out. He has also said another solution is that i just sell his SV, i bought my VTR for £1800 how much is an imaculate sv650 (no fairing) T reg with 11000 miles worth. I am stumped so if damage has been done to the engine then that is it, no more VTR. wombles feel ripped off. Any info on prices or help will be great.

Sounds like he's removed the CCT's without first setting the engine rotation in the right place, IE aligning the correct timing mark's on the flywheel first so the cam chain has no tension on itwezrvf wrote:Ok update, he has just rang me and said that he is going to need to get the timing sorted out on it because he messed it up when he taken out the CCT's, Any info on prices or help will be great.
