Something weird just happened to bike
Re: Something weird just happened to bike
Never happened to me in 11 yrs of filling te tank to the brim, but after leaving it with a full tank sat in the sun it happened once! It's not that common, but looks like it can happen

If the bikes been in the Sun it should have the opposite effect. The fuel will try to evaporate and build up a positive pressure in the tank.AMCQ46 wrote:Never happened to me in 11 yrs of filling te tank to the brim, but after leaving it with a full tank sat in the sun it happened once! I've always had a theory that there was a blockage in the petrol cap breather but I've never taken it apart to investigate as I've never had the problem myself. I've filled every bike I've had to the brim and not had a vapour lock.
So, anyone up for dismantling their petrol cap and seeing if the air hole is full of crap? or is it me

You could be onto something there Pete with the petrol cap.
The heat I think does make things worse which would explain why there are a lot more folk in the States in hotter climates that have this happen to them. And explains why it's not so much of a problem here.
