Bad vibrations

Getting serious front end vibrations at 120 +.
Thoughts anyone ? Had new tyres fitted a couple of weeks ago so please dont say balancing cos i will be pretty pissed off if thats the case !

Spoke to a mechanic who reckoned it was a waste of time jacking the bike up and feeling for head bearing play as ' its hard to tell on Hondas '.
What ????? What difference could that possibly make ???

When is the vibration noticeable, IE. high speed only, high and low speeds, only when on the power or, when braking

Only high speed, would say 120ish. Any thoughts ?

If I had that problem myself I would first check tyre pressures,(you've probably already done that!) then check to make sure the tyre has been correctly fitted to the rim make sure the arrow is facing the right way on the tyre wall, then checking that the gap between the line around the tyre is pretty even to the wheel rim all the way around the wheel on both sides. I would then (if everything checks out so far) check front wheel bearings, to do that you really need wheel suspended, then while the wheel is off the ground you can see if the wheel is balanced properly, if it is, it should stay in what ever position you put it, the weight of the valve should not make it move. Before you try that make sure the wheel turns freely, no binding brakes other than brake pads just touching disc's. If all that is OK then you're back to the head bearings. Thinking about bearing's were'nt you going to replace wheel, head bearings or both in another thread

Yep. 1st chance i get ! Am ordering some taper head bearings and can get wheel bearings cheap locally. Was hoping to get a few more people interested in the head bearings as the prices were cheap, quality good but will have to pay for postage if a small order.
