Seems a shame to sell it mate but if it turns you into an animal then maybe best.

Maybe a VFR would suit better, or maybe a suzuki sv650.

I do a sh1t ton of miles in the car, approx 35k a year in the car and then another 5k on the bike and I have a clean licence, you have been in the car with me and have seen I dont drive slow, especially when im late, it's 95 on motorway all the time. The bike, well you know i rarely keep below 80. The key to not getting caught is being alert and really good observations. You have to expect police cars and vans always play it safe.

I can see why you want a different bike though, something comfy at slower speeds. Exactly what I want next year, just for different reasons.

Get yourself off to a few trackdays... I wouldn't be allowed on public roads unless I got my adrenaline doses that way... I have a single speeding infraction on road to my record... (A big one, mind you... Triple the speed limit on the motorway...) But other than that, I get my thrills in a confined environment...

Yeah right... I tried that... SV650... Doesn't slow me down much really... Less top speed, but corner speed more than makes up for it...

Should have given me a bell mate, I would have come for a ride.

I spent most of the afternoon outside cleaning and polishing my bike, and I heard a V twin go through the village a couple of times. Sounded like yours.

I really don't think a slower bike is the answer to your problems though mate, a lot of 600s have more top end power than the storm anyway, and the ones that don't will still be capable of well over the lose your licence speeds. If you have a slower bike, you will just ride it harder.

As I said in my other post, something comfy at slower speeds might help, but I really think the answer is a different way of thinking.

When I drive or ride I am constantly on the lookout for police cars and speed checks. If I spot a van, marked or not at the side of the road that **might** just be a police van, I slow down anyway until I am sure. If I am doing silly speeds through the moors then I have a good look round up in the air every now and again to check for helicopters. When I overtake cars, I try to glance at the driver to see if they're wearing a uniform. Even if they're not, if I see them speed up to try and and catch up, I slow right down. Yes they are probably just trying to race me, and not police, but I just don't take the chance.

You have to expect the police to be there watching all the time, they could be just round the next corner or could be behind you in that car you have just overtaken. When you're constantly on the lookout for them and expecting to see them, it's not so much of a surprise when you do.

As everybody has said, you need to get some restraint, if you feels smaller bike will help then go for it. However most 125/250 will still break the law. I would suggest adapting riding/ bike.

As they say in the films with great power comes great responsibility.

Ps sv659 is good but you can still lose ya Licence !!

Sorry didn't ring you mate ,wanted to be on my own, know what you are saying about observation but unfortunatly its not that ,you see I can't afford to lose my licence, but, they can kiss my fcuking butt, not ridden since 16 to be told when its safe to do 100 or whatever ,I didn't get this far by luck, maybe I am a sh1t rider but they have no right to do me on a quiet road with no traffic I kill myself fine ,don't want to hurt anyone else ,like I said kiss my butt

Fair enough mate.

I see where you're coming from after getting caught where you did, but I wouldn't necessarily think that a change of bike will help at all. Anyway, take your time and don't rush into it mate.

Interesting reading this is. I am with everyone else though too Ady. Stay with the storm and try to calm down a bit. I'm the other way around, I'm trying to quicken up a bit. Hey why not do a trade, I'll have some of your speed and you take some of my slowness

I can only imagine how frustrating it is being done for speeded on a road where it is perfectly safe and the only person you are likely to hurt is yourself. I would be rather pi**ed if it happened to me too. I know you don't like cops but why not try a day riding with one or start the IAM course? or some form of advanced riding anyway. I really need to get back to doing my IAM but finding it hard to get the time at the moment with my new job

As said by the others, a slower bike will mean you push it and yourself more and could be more dangerous. At the end of the day you have a bike you enjoy and put money and effort into getting it the way you want it. The next bike will be the same and when you trade something you love for something else for the sake of it you will only regret it and want it back. Stay with your storm and do an advanced course. Best of both worlds
