Other bike

Post by Kev L »

I rebuilt this in 2004-5 but due to a change in circumstances the bike got left behind. I have just retrieved it and plan to refresh it then decide whether to sell it on or keep it as a reminder of me yoof! -

Once this is done I have a 1977 FS1EA to refresh as well.

Sorry if the piccies don't work. It's a 1975 Suzuki GT250M Ram Air(!!) in Candy Gold. I will get the pics in a different format and post em up.

Can wait to see that...

Damn you beat me to it with the pics, rendering my fiendish edit useless...Damm you Sir...

That's quite nice actually well done. Is it still in such good shape or needing TLC ?

Very nice but sell it, RD250's are going for about £2500 or more in mint condition, GT's not far behind, yours looks mint or does the photo flatter it ?, I would think somewhere between £1500-£2000. I could be wrong it might be worth more. 750's go up for sale between £5-7500 mint.

I built the FS1E for my sons 16th birthday, started it when he was 14 and we went all over the country together attending auto jumbles and shows picking up bits and bobs. When it was finished John rode it for a year until his 17th then stepped up to a 125. In the interim I said I would build the 250 (same as I had at 17) so that he would have a ride with under 33bhp for a couple of years.
Unfortunately John passed away a month after his 18th birthday so he never got to ride the GT. I lost interest in the bike after that, and following a change in domestic circumstances the bike was left out under a lean too for the last eight years. It's not too bad with most just needing a polish but i'll see how it goes.
Once the Yamaha FS1-EA is re-built I think I am going to auction it for the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

On the subject of other bikes here's one of mine.
One of only about 25 of this spec to be officially imported in 1986. Probably the best most original one in the uk. When I can get £3000 for it i'll sell it then put that money to another one of them I've had since I was 18, it's very modified inc a 1230 GSX engine, I need to finish it, it's been too long.
