i have had similar break to my wrist and ops to fix it all i can say is get that moving back and forward,
to have a good grip you need to be able to bend your wrist back the farther it goes back the better your grip will be i'm afraid you'll have to be working on it every day

Oh yes lots of flexing going on, time & movement should improve things strength wise just have to keep working on it...

I have to squeeze my ball every day as well as part of the therapy...stress ball that is...

Today I'm off up to Kings Collage Hosp, two months since plaster off... See the consultant & see what's going on.

My biggest fear is that he tells me I can go back to work !!!

X-ray booked for 15.00hrs. Appointment with the Bone Scrapper at 15.30...Which going on previous visits is more likely to be about 17.00...

I'm looking forward to seeing his face when I tell him I've got the bike (almost) rebuilt...

Good luck Mac. Are you still attending Physio. I have a feeling they will start weaning you out of the system now as you come to terms with the way it is. It will most likely just be a case of building up strength in it. But as far as movement goes only time will tell.

Good luck with it all Mac, I saw my speacilist on Tuesday so know what its like.
I'm not allowed back to work for at least another 6 months, for to keep up the exercises, was informed there was complications with my spinal op which explains a few things. Having to relearn how to lift objects, walk more upright, etc
Can now drive again and ride but got to do it all in moderation.
Can be hard at times but your get there, I know how you feel!

Well the 15.30 appointment was more of a 16.40 appointment.

He's not that happy with the way it's still ''deformed'' but thats a consequence of doing such a fine job of smashing it up in the first place.

He is ( along with me... ) a bit concerned with the lack of grip strength. Yes it aches but is not really painful unless I move it out of it's comfort zone. Movement is restricted & it won't really get much better TBH. As it's akin to having really, really bad arthritis if & when any pain becomes too much they can fuse the joint which will lessen the pain & deal with the deformation, if that makes sense.

The only other outcome of today is that if the grip strength does not improve in the next month, there is a nerve test they can do, under the knife again, to test it, as the way the wrist is positioned it may be interfering with the nerves that control the muscles.

Carl,H&S will have to lump it when I return as I will only do what I'm comfortable with, no ladder work, no spray jobs. Other than that I should be OK.

Good skill with the healing.
If I can help with any of the recovery stuff this is my patch. Having bitter personal experience, it's now my job to fix the painful stuff after the operations, though folks don't usually hear about me until years after the event.
It's a really physical therapy, I pummel things back into action. Have a read of testimonials to get the idea. Plenty of bikers on the books recently.
