Must have's on firestorm

Post by BigJ1111 »

Being new to the storm, it seems a whole new world of biking.

What are the must haves and is there anyone around fife to have a look at my bike to actually see what has been done to my bike, it's meant to have stage 1 dyno and cct done but I'm not sure what to look for

Put a close up photo of the engine looking from the right hand side: throttle side & we will be able to see if the cct's have been done or just replaced with standard OEM ones. If you bought the bike from one of the members on here then they may have had the stopper mod done, until we see some pics we cannot access.

must have items.
manual cct's or stopper mod
finned reg/rec or mosfet jobby

useful items, none of these are important, but each of them serves a purpose.
fender extender
mirror extenders
double bubble screen
hugger
good quality headlight bulb or eastern beaver relay kit

also good to have.
uprated fork internals
uprated rear shock
stick coil conversion
aftermarket exhaust

the skys the limit of upgrading these bikes, it really is an illness, modificationitis, just ask yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 how badly have you got it, i rate myself about 9...... :eek2
HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!

Necessary things to a storm owner;

1. Change the CCT's and R/R, just for peace of mind; A set of decent quality silencers is a must IMO, on any twin.
2. Have the ability to leave the spanners in the box unless something goes wrong, which it wont if you leave it alone, aside from the 2 aforementioned items.
3. The sense to realise a good rider on a standard Firestorm, will be faster than a crap rider on a modified one......It's rarely the bike thats the weak point.

These bikes are pretty damn bulletproof, unless they're constantly fcuked about with.

Some good tips thanks,

I'll be posting photos for help but I'm not looking to go wild on this one yet, just making sure I've got what I need to be in with a shout with mr Essex lol.

I've got a hugger, seat cowl to put on, may remove baffles from carbon devil cans, defo sorting wheels out (may try to clean these first or paint as a scottoiler has killed the rear), got a nice bright headlight but gonna look at a smd 9 bulb light for the small running light, fancy a led brake light, putting new shoes on her, and full service, apart from that, I think my mechanical skills are limited

I'd be interested in hearing about polishing up these old polished rims,( I already have started cleaning headers) also I must be thick but still cannot find manual that's posted in knowledge section but can someone copy me a link please

You also want to put a spacer under the rear shock top mounting to make the bike turn in faster, fit a double bubble screen and heated grips.

Stoppered or manual cct .

BigJ,
Try and catch up with Jazz, he'll keep you on the straight and narrow path.
Better still, get your butt down to Dumfries next weekend and you will hopefully see a collection of storms for you to cast an eye over in various stages of change.
(should actually refer to him as BigJazz, you'll understand when you see him)
Don't hassle me
I'll get there at some time
