Motorcycle Action Group

Post by Kev L »

I got my copy of "the ROAD", the MAG bi-monthly magazine and as usual it's an interesting read with loads of good articles on bikes, accesories, meets and legal challenges to the freedom of motorcyclists around the World but with obvious emphasis on the UK. The magazine comes through free if you join MAG.
I know it's not at the forefront of peoples minds and it's much more rewarding to buy yourself something shiney to bolt on to your bike than think about the work that MAG & BMF do to protect our freedom, but MAG (& BMF no doubt) have suffered financially from the poor weather last year and in the early part of this year which has impacted on the revenue produced from their events, their main funding stream. They are £30,000 down which impacts on the amount they can do for motorcycling.
Please don't think I am preaching to you, it took me 35 years to join and I've only been a member for the last three years, but I decided I have had a great deal of enjoyment from motorcycling and want that freedom to be passed down to future generations.
It costs just £25 a year as a solo member, which is good value in itself with the magazine being listed at £3.99 where sold.
Just think, you can get yourself a nice warm feeling of satisfaction, or have I just pissed myself again.

Just as a matter of interest, and to save this fading away unnoticed into obscurity, how many of us are members of a rider’s rights organisation? BMF, MAG or anything else?

I joined MAG purely because they had a more dynamic image at the time I joined, but I'm sure the BMF have many things to recommend them. Do you think Riders interests are best represented by having two organisations rather than one combined mouthpiece?
