I can tell you a story about a storm

A week or two after we re-took the Falklands, we left the island on an old post office ship, in a force 5 storm

Deff the wine Carl...What were you doing in 1982 that was so important you missed it all...

I think it is a reference to Flatie taking part in a great British military campaign to liberate the Falklands from the dastardly Argies.

It's the Post office ship bit that is confusing me. In 1982 I was still in education but excited by and following the story of warfare.
