2 more sleeps :D

Good news is
1) that we have Neil & Helen joining the run [staying in local B&B]
2) It is the Parade day [[decorated HGV trailers & Fancy Dress etc, parading the length of the high street]] in kirkcudbright saturday, so the town will be bouncing all week end
3) weather friday and sunday looks great.... so for the sunday return home we will make sure it is a good run too.....suggest we take in the Buddist Temple and head North east for a bit so Grumpy frog can split away at Hexham...then come down the east side so ziggy and Neil can end up close to York, :D
4) local beer is great
5) the town has one of the best fish & Chip shops I have ever used

Bad news
1) the weather on Saturday is going to involve rain, but the raods are still going to blow you way, just a shame that some of the views will be lost.
but I should have acess to my own house on Saturday so we can move in there if needed

Which Helen and Neil do you mean?

I have 0 confidence in the rain. Looks like it'll be low pressure over West Scotland on Sat, so probably going to rain. If it does, ill be really slow I am afraid. I think it's something to do with the reflection of the water on the surface, reminds me of glass maybe and I just can not bring myself to lean more than like 10 degrees. If we're doing a drop off system ill go at the back as I cannot keep up.

Also I need to be back early afternoon on Sunday as I am at Donington on Tuesday. Need to get my bike ready Sunday afternoon and get my front wheel off for a new tyre fitting on Monday. Should be OK though, if we set off at 9-10am on Sunday morning, we'll have 4-5 hours.

its Neil who posted half way up the page about the oxford waterproof covers, and his Mrs.

yes sunday will leave by 10 so we can get some riding in in they dry as well, I will need to be home to sort my sh1t out for work on monday and I am 2 or 3 hrs further south that you, so it all works out good.

As for riding in the rain,
#1 is trusting your tyres,
#2 is relaxing your arms...........if you lock your arms the bike wont turn, then you panic and lock them more! so I tell people to lean their head and upper body into the turn when the roads are wet....and by doing that it forces you to bend the inner elbow and also pull on the outer bar and that starts the countersteer for you and the bike starts to corner
#3 look ahead like you do in the dry, dont target fixate on that puddle or manhole cover
#4 be smooth.

but we will have a good dry ride friday and sunday, so it lives up to the old Scottish saying, "if you dont like the weather, come back in 1 hr".....you can almost get 4 seasons in 1 day

Oh right, I didn't see that.

Neil will be coming from East Yorks. Where will he be meeting us?

As for riding in the rain, I have tried, I know the theory but I just can't bring myself to lean the bike over
Doesn't really make much difference to me because if it even looks like rain, I usually don't go out on the bike.

when you have your 1st wet track day, that will realy help your confidence in the wet

Yes I was thinking about that. So far both have been dry, and weather for Tuesday looks like it'll be dry too, but sooner or later ill get a wet one and will need to learn fast.

Yes, we are joining you for the weekend. Left it late as we normally pick to go wherever weather is best but this weekend everywhere gets some rain so nowhere was best. We are taking a meandering route up there teastops, dinner and what not. I've noted where you are meeting so if we are close I'll meet, if not see you there.

Neil,
your B&B is just past the Petrol station and just before my Mother-in-laws house [and I promised we would do a drive past for her!!!!!!!!!] so you will hear us when we arrive....... unless you are out in the town looking at the sites.........but its a small town, you will hear us from most places
