The rebuild is coming together and looking good - All good exercise for your dabbler. How long do you reckon before both are ready for a ride?

By 20th Sept if I want to ride it to the MOT station...

At the moment there is just not enough movement in me non twist wrist to twist the go go control...

Or strength to squeeze the stopping activator...

Just dropped the storm off for its MOT, got to pick it up later, should go straight through but I am always paranoid! have I missed something,

I remember going for my MOT on my Fazer, it ran out the day after my plaster came off my wrist, so I rode it 12 miles to mot place in the rain, there was a 5foot wide diesel spill all the way up the road for 4 miles! It had new tyres and brakes that had been fitted wheels off while I was recuperating from my crash and the whole thing had been apart for repairs (most done one handed with the cast wrapped in a nappy ag to keep it clean)

So tyres not even done 1 mile when I got on it, I was packing myself and terrified that I would not be able to ride after the crash, but only took a couple of miles and I started to feel less worried.

Just been told the bike has failed on 'front brake fluctuation', which means the discs I put on to replace the warped front discs are warped.

Sorry to hear that Matty Coops, I have a set of VFR400 discs which I think will fit as the Firestorm discs fit on the wheel they are coming off.

I'm not sure how good they are, as I've never used them personally, they are on eBay for £40 + p&p but, you can have them for postage costs.

Today... Took my clutch slave cylinder off again and replaced the butchered gasket, then flushed through the manky fluid.

Then I removed my front callipers and pads, pushed the cylinders out a little and gave them a good clean with a toothbrush and Halfords brake cleaner, I can recommend the cleaner, was £5 and worked a lot better than other brands I've tried, the can seemed to last forever too!

Then I flushed my front calliper fluid through with fresh stuff - you should have seen how brown and sludgy the old fluid was, like treacle!

Everything feels much nicer now, more positive and smooth.

Re-checked all the nuts & bolts I've touched in the last couple of weeks, just to make sure.

Then I took my bars off, lined up my 96(?) deuville top yoke... The stem is about 20mm off. Damn! I'll have a little brainstorm over that one.

Hey Matt, try the above first, if you've got a spare 30 mins over the long weekend. I did this to mine and has made quite a big difference, still a little bit of pulsing through the lever, but much better.

You have a PM & if the above doesn't work, I'll pop the VFR discs in the post on Tues.

Thanks guys, unfortunately I only recently fitted these discs to replace the ones that were warped (yeah, I know) and I did the whole bobbin clean thing before I fitted them. I only put them on about 5-600 miles ago so don't think they can have seized up already.

Am wondering if I have got one disc from the original set and one disc on now that is straight, but not sure if there is an easy way to check for straightness without trying each combination of discs on he bike which will be a pain.

If you can send me the vfr discs, as I have 10 days for a free retest, if I don't need them I am more than happy to send them back to you! Might even be able to fit them for mot, then take them off again as the ideal would be a set of new discs when I can afford it!

Btw, for anyone else in this position, I got a quote from the local stealers, Honda ones are the same price as EBC and apparently there have been issues with EBC discs having such a harsh edge on the drilled holes that they are wearing down pads in 100 miles from new, has happened on two bikes they know of. I reck on if honda discs are £150 each, might as well go for them.
