what a change in weeks...

Post by callam_nffc »

after a sh1t week last week (gaffer paid expenses late hence I wasn't in firkin wales at the weekend) Ive actually rode the bike more this week and my god I missed it :D

after being flat out all week, hence no forum activity, I managed to take her for her MOT today and passed without a single advisory, cant be bad for a 16 year old bike can it :)

when ive not ridden it for a while I seem to forget how much she pulls (rather like a train as you lot know :D), now its just time to get a bit of riding in before its ice and snow everywhere...

It's quite possible... Not for the faint of heart though... I rode one winter straight through on the VTR... People would make very, very big eyes at me as I wound it up past them on the freeway in the slush...

Your Snow is on another level to us 8O The worst bit here is the back roads. As long as one can get onto the main roads it's pretty much cleared up with amount of road Salt that is thrown down and snow that has turned to slush from Salt and traffic. I find the cold to be more dangerous. If I'm shivering on the bike then my concentration levels are very poor and all my brain thinks about is getting warm.

Black ice is what I used to worry about more than anything else when I used to ride in winter many years ago.

Well done with the mot Callam

Possibly... But the snow is fine, fair levels of grip on it, black ice or even ice is a right PITA...

I had a scary time years ago when I hit a patch of black ice at a T junction and ended up weaving between two lanes of traffic and landing up on the pavement opposite me. These days the bike gets tucked away in the winter months.

That is why I put up with all the BS in the Peoples Republic of California............ No snow, unless I want to take a trip to see it and no salt

I had to run in the last engine, with high comp pistons etc, in the ice and snow, and every time I shut off the bloody engine just dropped to tickover and the back end semi-locked.

I got very fed up with that after a while....

But it made the journey less boring.

Actually the Storm is quite well suited to ice and snow, I think.
It's got the third brake, and that's a lot more useful than the other two in those conditions.

And narrow, so when you have to slide between cars when you would have preferred to stop, you get away with it more often.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Your all bonkers! (as if we didn't already know)

I once rode my 125 in the snow and it was just lunacy, did get the odd drift going in car parks, but I soon gave up when I dropped it lol
