). Many many moons have passed & I've been indicating with left arm or right leg when necessary. Finally have my beloved at a friend's for a good overhaul & turns out it was just a build-up of "gunk" (believe that's the mechanical term...) in the switch, hence the relationship to the colder weather. The colder the temp, the harder the gunk & the more difficult the connection.

All is well now & should soon have dynojet, K&N & some nasty pipes as well

Who's a happy girl then???

I don't even know what that means...

I just take advice from guys I trust re bike things. I can outride most people I meet around the place, but when it comes to the actual bike, I know how to check the oil, tyre pressures & put fuel in. That's about it. Start talking bike bits & I tune out real quick. Call me what you will, but that's boy stuff. You change my oil I'll bake you a cake kinda thing.

Low level

High(ish) level (my Remus')

Very high level (close enough to melt the seat plastics?) -Blueflames

Low levels are the most pillion friendly but do little to improve ground clearance
High levels can make it harder for pillions to get on/off without touching the hot exhaust but do improve ground clearance

I went for the Remus' which are a nice compromise. Also the pillion pegs shield the cans a bit in the event of a spill

Basically low level cans (silencers) will be more or less the same height as the standard Honda ones. The high level cans will be up very near to the base of the seat, like my high level ones below.

Thanks Ben & Chris. I think the high level ones might be the go. I do a lot of pillioning, but hey, it's my bike, not theirs

. Does it make it much more uncomfortable for them? I'm not sure I even care enough to consider that aspect anyway. If the pipes were out of the way, I'd be a little more inclined to oil my chain... In fact, I think it's a financial investment to get the high level pipes in order to save money on chains & sprockets. (I lurrrrve to justify things...) The super high ones are a bit much me thinks.

I wouldn't mind getting the whole system thing to get rid of the yukky rusty look on the front bits (yeah yeah yeah, I'm sure they've got a name...)

Now, since that was just advice, I shall have to adjust my fee accordingly. Give me your addresses, boys & I'll post you each a cup-cake.

TBH it doesn't make being on the pillion more uncomfortable.

The only problems can be getting off without touching the hot pipes (just takes a bit of care) and their feet marking the cans

And WRT the 'yukky rusty thingys' they do clean up a treat using a soft scourer and plenty of wd40
But if you're going for the expense of a full system be sure to go for tapered headers.
These make a massive difference to the scavaging on a V-twin <wooshing sound of 'going over the head' from VTR-girl>

They give a big improvement in performance

No problem there VTRgirl, as long as you get yourself sorted out or rather your bike sorted that's the main thing

All this mentioning of cakes and cup cakes, does this mean you can cook as well

Thinking about high level cans again, I think I'm right in saying they are not so good if you use throw-over panniers as they will be in contact with the heat coming from them, but obviously if you never use them it wouldn't matter. Another advantage apart from being able to oil your chain easier, the back wheel is easier to clean and checking tyre pressure

I love doing all the flash stuff for entertaining, etc, but I can't do the basics like steaks & roasts, to save myself...

You're s'posed to clean the wheels

I just wash the bugs off the front when the light starts getting a bit dim.

As for the throw-over panniers, I think only cruiser riders are allowed to use those over here...

I just can't picture them on a sports bike with the style & finesse of a storm. I refuse to put a rack on either. Just use an extendable tank bag and have a huge bag that ocky-straps (bungy cords) on to the pillion seat for long trips.

No doubt chock full of hairdryer, straigteners, make up, shampoo, conditioner, anti-frizz serum

But she does it all for you Ben! And you wouldn't have her any other way!

I do own a hair-dryer... Used to keep it by my bed before I bought an electric blanket. Great for warming up the sheets before you jump in...

Now I have the lekky blanky, I wouldn't have a clue where the hair-dryer is!
