Just a bit of "fine" tuning today

Got the pilot screw adjustment squared away after removing the bottle from the airbox.
Ended up going in 1 full turn to get her to run correctly. Of course then it's looking at the system and trying to figure out why?

The best I can come up with so far is by removing the heat, that the crank case gasses were pumping into the airbox, you now have denser air which is creating a stronger signal.
At least it sounds possible to me. The extra volume and removing the "clutter" also helps but it is a rather big change and you wouldn't expect to need to go leaner when you up the airflow.

I also added 1\2 turn of spring to the forks after last weeks "spirited" ride... So right now she is close to perfect...... well at least for now

a Wonderful 700 miles this weekend, down to edge of Cornwall, up along north devon coast, somerset, into gloucester, up uthe M5 across to derby, down to east coast, ended up in Canterbury for a B and B then along to ramsgate, area. dover all along the coast past brighton, etc and then back to salisbury for tea tonight and just got in, were those bars risers worth it!!! bugger me i,ll say what a blast!!! and totally fab weather almost 20 degs Sat and 21 today. and the bike, covered in shite but totally faultless,

Maybe the speed of the airflow has changed by giving it more volume. A bit like a crowd of people trying to get in a lift at the same time, or is that elevator in you case Too many try to rush in at once and you all start tripping over each other slowing the speed the lift/elevator fills up. 1 turn does seem a lot though.

They have already been ruined by the previous owner cutting the left link where it swoops up to high rise for the cans to mount on, on the left loads. But yes I dont really want to cut either the the header parts or the Arata links but something is going to have to be compromised. Obviously this will be done with minimum damage hence the reason I'm thinking about abandoning the parts that sit be the rear sets. I can then attach the Arata links straight on to the other part of the header. Abandoning them parts is not damaging them, just removing.

The removal of the bottle doesn't actually add volume, as it vents to the airbox. It mainly removes disturbances to the airflow.
Taking out the corners where they used to run through makes more volume, though, as long as it's all sealed up.

So far I have just removed the bottle and all the plumbing bits and yes it is sealed up well......

That is why I am thinking the chances have a good chance of being heat related.
Yes the air flow disturbance is a major improvement also but as the bottle pulls air directly from the valve covers I wonder how hot it really is?

Of course it's just me over thinking the whole thing....all that I know is I wonder why I waited so long to get it done.....

It could be because of the HRC needles I'm running, they do react a little different than all the other needles out there but then again the do look completely different also

I'm just glad I finally replaced my "D" screw tool so the adjustments are a whole 10 mins now

I don't know if the internal airbox bottle actually passes any heat into the airbox. The pumping action just pumps the same slug of air up and down the pipework leading to the bottle, as far as I can work out.
Otherwise you'd have lots of oil fumes going into the bottle, and there never is any.

So it's more of a pulse of air that's pushed into the airbox, but as the vent hole in the bottle is quite small, the bottle acts as an air reservoir, allowing pressure to build and drop each pulse.

Try running the engine with the lid off and feel with your hand- I don't think it makes much heat as such.

And in any case, the design on Storms means that the airbox snorkel draws air in for between the vee of the cylinders and also pull sin what's gone through the oil cooler.....

I'm convinced that ram air from cool air from the nose would help, even without the slight increase in intake charge pressure. Colder, denser air will take a fraction more fuel and generate bigger bangs.
