the 020s front tyres are pront to give a high speed wobble or weave when they almost worn out.
as for a tyre choice for the storm there are lots of different coices available, im running the new avon vipers at the moment and they are the best tyres i have ever used on any of the many bikes ive had, second choice would be the pirelli diablo, or the bridgestone 014s.
if u want a sport touring tyre then the 020s or the new metzeler roadtec z6 is superb and the new pirelli strada.
i work for a tyre distributors and am a tyre specialist and these are the most popular tyres on the market at the moment.

Don't know if they're available over there, but I'm currently running Pilot Power & swear by them. Used to use the Battleaxe, which were good, but now, it doesn't seem to matter how I ride, they won't let go, rain or shine.

Echo the thoughts on the Metzeler M1's. Just had a set fitted to mine. Bike rides 100% better. Really quick to warm up and more grip in the corners than I've got the bottle for!
I paid 200 notes for mine, but then the guy I used came to me and done it at my home address. If your in the SE area he's well worth using. Takes great care of your bike and makes sure your happy with everything.

I have Maxxis Supermax on my VTR front and rear. Don't know if you guys get them over there, but I wouldn't bother with them. They came new on the bike when I bought it and I've hated them the whole time. Low grip, hard as and after 11000 km it still looks to have at least 5 or 6 grand left in the rear and the front looks barely scrubbed in. 
They don't handle the torque of the VTR well at all and spin through corners if you lay it on hard.
But then they are a reasonable touring tyre, being hard, but who the hell tours all the time And they are cheap

Yup that be the guy. Goes by the name of Rubber Ranch . Done a spiffing job on the bike and will deff use him again when these need replacing. Really seems to know his stuff and his products, also a biker himself so........
I went fo the Sportec's on his recommendation. Apparently made in the same factory using the same carcass and rubber compound as the Pirelli Diablo's. Can't fault them so far....even started grounding the pegs on some corners. Lots of grip. Dunno how they'll do mileage wise as they've only been on the bike a couple of weeks.

I have got Dunlop d207s on both bikes - gsxr and vtr - and have no real complaints. Just got back from a 'long' trip to the bank and post office and ground the pegs on the vtr with them but i wonder how close to their limit i am. I guess you don';t find out until you get to a track or fall off!!
Would be interested to hear from someone who has had d207s and went to something else? I use both bikes to commute but like my Sunday afternoon thrash as well as an evening 'lap' of my favourite road!
