Chris.

good question......... I am comparing the brakes to how frightened I get when I use them in anger  .......but I have ridden other Storms and they were all similarly poor against my expectation. And when I ride the newer KTM990s and Various Fireblades, they have to power and feel I want.

in my head the only limitation in a straight line emergency stop should be the front tyre grip [although front suspension will be a factor in more dynamic situations], and I want to get the Storm up to that level compared to a 5 or 6 yr old Blade

That sounds fair enough to me Al, it is your bike after all so why shouldn't you have what suits you.

Good luck in achieving that,

Chris.

I've had braided hoses, sintered pads and EBC discs on mine for ages and the braking is great.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

AMCQ46 wrote:I tried everything on my early model to get the brakes better, :

braided Hoses
EBC HH pads
calipers cleaned and rebuilt with new seals
Master Cyl cleaned and rebuilt
new fluid

but they never were good enough!!! :(

now with F4i calipers [bigger pistons] and master [bigger piston], EBC HH pads, braided hoses, plus TITAX long lever and Armstrong wave discs.........the brakes are much better, but not 1 finger yet, and I still want more initial bite so I will be changing the pads for Brembo or similar soon
I had the same experience with my brakes and went to an SP2 set up with Vesrah RJL pads to finally get the system to work

ABB, so what was the conclusion about your front brakes being that much better than your Dave's brakes, that is if he has had the time to look at yours yet :?:

More initial bite sounds great until that first emergency braking manouevre on a wet and slippery road......plus I want to retain feel over the input, especially when braking on bumpy roads.

Stratman, the brembos have plenty of feel........more than the EBC, and the bite isnt so harsh you risk locking the front, but rather there is much less lag till you get the braking your hand asked for in the first place.

I had braided hoses on my yellow storm and front brake was soft, but at Mac's Grainstom workskop day Jonsey bled them after I had fitted Brembo pads and they were spot on after that
