Which cams?

Post by tony.mon »

I'm building a stage 2 or so engine, with a few ideas of my own in.
I need some cams; the usual suspects are in the frame, Yoshi, Kent, Moriwaki etc.
I have about £500 as a budget, and the exchange rate on the yen doesn't look too sad at the moment.
But there are one or two other companies who might be worth a loo.

Webcams, in the states, weld, build up, grind, then harden cams, and although they have some grinds that seem to fit the bill, there's never a before and after dyno run to show what difference they make.

probably because just slapping some cams and shim in on their own won't show them at their best.....

So who can i add to my list, and has anyone spotted a bargain or two that might be worth considering?

Or might you have something tucked away that you no longer need?

Just be forewarned that running aggressive cams on a stock crank tends to result in a snapped crank.... I suggest you speak to Roger first, he can give you the specifics on the matter......

Hey Tony, have a look in my "winter to do list" thread, (sorry not sure how to link) there is a guy who offered some Mori cams etc to me. I'm interested in some of his gear but I'm not really touching my engine too much.

Might be worth PM'ing him ;)

Jamie it's simple, just copy and paste the thread or individual post title link location like so.

No need to enclose internal links in URL tags either. It''s straight forward copy and paste.

Tony can you use standard fuel with Mori cams as they are not as high compression. :biggrin

Will do, Roger.
Might even take a run up your way one day and have a chat. I was going to drop by one day with some heads for oversize inlets to be fitted, and let you know where I found them, as well! And yes, they have some left....
