Needed a new throttle tube and grips, so got a quick action from david silver, 20 quid delivered and may i say its fantastic!!! but ill have to remember to be a little throttle friendly! Lol

You will soon get used to it. No more sore wrist from twisting so far. The name quick action throttle can be a little misleading as one could think it means you go a bit faster, but you don't. It just means you get from closed to wide open throttle quicker as there is less travel. It's one of the best things I have done to my bike from a comfort point.

Lets hope your throttle never sticks open. The return cable is your safety margin. What happens if something gets snagged or the return spring on the carb breaks.

Kill switch...

Funnily enough, I had taken off my return cable & I took on board what you had said about safety, so I reinstalled it. Bloody faff esp. with one wonkey wrist... It made it substantially heavier to twist, two forces acting against each other, not good for my wristical situation...

Again I thought of what you had said about the safety issue...very briefly before deciding to ignore it & ripped the fecker off again...

They come off much easier than they go on thats for sure.

If you build it right it won't snag but if it did or something got stuck in the butterfly's after it's made its way past the air shield and air filter a return cable won't be much use (try closing the door with your foot in the way ) the kill switch is the only way to stop it .
Removing the throttle cable gives greater throttle control and feel and makes it lighter too .
It snaps shut quicker and harder to boot .
Most of the racers I've spoken to remove it too as it's just not needed .
I've removed mine one every honda (5) I've had and never has it jammed open

Just be aware that because the cable run is larger it uses slightly more cable.
Now that doesn't matter, except when you fit bar raisers, when you need all the length you can get.....

Best not to combine the two, unless you can get longer cables.

Lloydie this sounds damn dangerous if there is a chance of the throttles sticking open no matter how remote by removing the return cable. In my view it is fail-safe feature. Remember our racetrack is full of moving & static hazards as well as things coming in the opposite direction.

Oh, god, stop it. Bikes for many years had only one cable, and it was to open the throttle.

The return cable is just there to snap the throttle shut quicker without having to have a huge spring on it which would make it feel heavy.

It's not dangerous, just pull in the clutch and hit the kill switch.

What next, doubling cable clutch cables in case it snaps and launches you faster than you thought was going to happen?
