Bloody Hornetto.

Post by Virt »

Well, Hornet's wombles again

Riding home yesterday, huge crunching noise follow by the inability to use my clutch (could stall the bike on the front brake with the clutch fully pulled in). Was an interesting ride, to say the least. Also got a fairly large puncture in my rear tyre, a new clutch cable has been sourced an we're hopefully getting a tyre off a mate with a bit of tread left in it but this isn't the first time in the last few months we've lost a clutch cable on the hornet. Practically eats them for breakfast, so something is probably a tad wrong there.

Either way, may not be riding it again at this rate. At least not on the road, depending on if we can actually get it running again and find out why the clutch cables are being knackered I may not be using it until the trackday.. However I have offered the idea of riding the VTR on the trackday, just as a precaution, because I may not feel comfortable using the Hornet on a trackday the way it currently is.

baldrocks to it though.

I want to. But I'll be way too busy shitting myself

Plus it will have to be unrestricted, which means I then have to restrict it by the next day when I insure myself on it..

I agree. I just have to persuade my dad, there's two sides to this.

I'll get more out of the actual track day on the hornet, I know exactly how it handles (badly with no air in the rear tyre )

BUT

I'll learn more on the VTR.

Knowledge is power, is it not? :P

I know the feeling. My zx6 used to eat clutch cables as well, really annoying and they always snap in the worst possible place to be/on the way to work :x .
Had decent bikes since with hydraulic clutches :D The sp clutch is lovely.

I won't be going hell for leather on the track day nice and easy learning what me and the bike are capable of more than anything plus quick to restrict for next day only 2 discs to put in

I think this is the way to go. Take the Storm but take it easy and have fun. There's no need to push beyond your limits, just get to know the bike a bit.

I was gonna take it sensibly. I love it way too much to put it under that much while I'm not fully confident with how it reacts to my inputs

Bike's wombles, my Dad doesn't want me tracking the VTR, some prick barged into me while I was texting so I dropped my phone. Picked it up and it worked fine, got a text 5 minutes later and the vibrating wombles the screen so that it's unusable. I don't know my login details to access my 3 account, if you say you've forgotten your password they text you it rather than e-mail (b8stard) etc.

Really bad day. I want to punch something.
