Mate of mine had the Adventure, which ended up knowing its own way back to the dealers. I think his Superduke didnt give him too much grief to be fair, but he now has an RC8, and the less said about that the better, loads of problems.

Buy and old Storm. "Streetfighter" it. Add 3 tooth larger rear sprocket + decent cans etc. Piss all over these new fangled contraptions (up to 120mph anyway) which is plenty on a naked bike anyway.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Ok, yes i do agree on some of the later KTM's, the last one i had was a 2000 KTM520, which was fairly bullet proof.
I remember some of the newer bikes lunching themselves and giving troubles.
Looking back and reading the forums over the passed 10 years, seems there were some models to avoid.
And the big LC4 was always a vibration monster.
I also think its time they had a colour change, even its just their road bikes, that Orange is just disgusting!
Stark White or Black or anything but that baby poo day glo Orange

3 out of 5 people are not the other 2.

I thought the same at the time, but if they are not that reliable as others are saying, then perhaps it wouldn't have been good advertising,mattycoops43 wrote:They wouldn't let Ewan have a bike to go 'long way round'. Biggest pr mistake they ever made,

I have the KTM990 SMT, best bike I ever had, not broke yet full of top quality kit WP suspension, Brembo brakes Marchesini wheels etc etc.Salty Dog wrote:I remember people saying that in 1984 when i had a KTM250 EXC.leevtr wrote:It will break. IMO KTM are shite.
And they only 2 or 3 other bikes in their range at that time.
Now they pretty much own the Junior MX scene world wide, Own the Enduro scene in all classes, Good representation in MX and have taken a big slice in the Adventure Bike market, a Motard range, and now a range of road bikes.
Bought out Husaberg, Bought out someone else to lately...
They have done well for a shite bike manufacture.
Owned a few KTM's, i think what i liked most about them, is they were right to go straight out of the crate.
No extra money to spend on quality components or removing stuff.... or *cough cough* endless mods
I have no idea how all this equates to their entry in to road bikes.
Maybe it will break, as they have quoted 15,000K service intervals.
I was born with nothing and I still have most of it left.
