Indicators flashing to fast.

Post by 7057vtr »

Hi guys I have recently bought smaller indicators for my 98 firestorm also got some resisters as recommended. I fitted the back 2first with no issues today I fitted the front ones and the speed was to fast.
Any ideas

Yes, fit an old bulb from the std indicators in series with the front ones. Sounds like your resistors are on the rears only; you'll need four, one in line with each indicator.

Or just two if they're fitted in parallel in the positive feed side to the switch......

Thanks guys. I have fitted 4resisters and they have bulbs not LEDs so I think I must need a new relay.

If they have bulbs then you don't need resistors- take them out and try again.

Check the wattage on the bulbs especially if they are from China as the wrong wattage will make them flash fast.

As mentioned above, you must have a different wattage bulb, make sure you use the same bulbs as were in originally.

Thanks I have just checked and the bulbs in the new ones are 10w and the original are 21w so need new ones.

I've just replaced my rear indicators, I bought them off the flea of evil.
I was scratching my head wondering why the relay was flashing too fast and it turns out my rear bulbs were 10w rather than 21w.

The stumpy bulbs (R10's) don't come in a 21w version so I've made a power resistor that I've linked between the indicator switch and relay.

If you have 10W bulbs fitted instead of 21W then you will have 22 spare each end; 44 in total....any plans for them? I could do with some more for my battery.
