Hi mate.
I am in Newport, so local to you. Do all my own resto stuff as well. My black storm is currently off the road cos it needs front discs and I cant afford any still ride every day to work, I also have a fazer.
See you around.
Matt

Hi Matt, good to see another Taff on here! Shame discs are keeping your beastie off the road though.
Wonder if you can change the front wheel/fork off a (different make/model) bike with complete discs??? It might be cheaper if you can find one breaking. Never know what will fit....?
Just an idea...madder and saner ideas have lead to great things.....

Yes, loads will fit, most honda 90's bikes are the same, fireblade, cbr600, vfr etc etc, but after having tried 3 sets of discs second hand, I have given up. I have also been warned off Waveys etc, and even EBC have had issues recenlty with eating pads. It will be Honda discs at £300 a pair if and when I can afford it.
I even sent a pair off for straightening, then sent them back when I could see a bend in them, then they still failed the mot.
Lost the will to live re firestorm if I am honest.

Welcome to the forums you sneaky f*#ker... Only yesterday I was coming back to my garage with my other mate Jamie (tufftysvtr) We pull in to the end of the lane leading to my garage and spot a shiny black Storm parked up... Quite excited that we actually found a bike which didn't belong to someone we knew, we parked the van and Jamie ran off down the lane in pursuit of it's owner. Was a bit disappointed that it wasn't someone new but at the same time happy that it was my good but sneaky friend who had quietly bought the bike a few days earlier and had been plotting on how he was going to reveal his new toy to surprise us, but we turned up at the right time and he was busted
And on a side note... the corruption continues, since I got my storm that's now 2 mates I have now converted

Hey darkember, have just ordered a set of the 3" risers, which works out at £165. Not cheap I agree, but I do like the bike so....AAAAARGGHHMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmm...(that's the sound of my Bank Manager eating his tie in frustration at my ongoing Honda-inspired financial downfall...)darkember wrote:Hi there & welcome
If money is not an issue then try the following, they are infinitely adjustable:

Re: Newly discovered Firestorm noob in Cardiff!
Put a set of helibars on mine they are very good
Re: Newly discovered Firestorm noob in Cardiff!
Is that what they're called? Helibars??
Apparently the issue with them is it takes a long time to figure out which position you prefer to have them in!
I suppose you could have different positions for general riding, and touring...?

Hey Shaggy Doo, thanks for the welcome!
Well, I have to say, today is indeed a joyous day...the Apex adjustable bars have arrived from the USA, daaaaaaamn that was quick!
Now if I could just get time to trial fit them to see if I need (probley will) to get longer throttle cables and clutch hose.
Happy happy happy......
