I've never stripped a modern road bike down as much as this before, so was a little nervous! I can't believe how a fully functioning bike can be reduced to this in a matter of hours!

Just need to get engine out etc & prepare everything for powder coat. Oh also got a fireblade swingarm so I can transfer the brace etc :)

I'm more nervous about trying to put it all back together properly!!!

It's a good test for my sex swing, I wouldn't want anyone suing me if it broke!

Mate this is not a modern road bike lol its a dinosaur compared to a modern fuel injected machines

Firestorm has to be one of the easiest bikes to get at and work on their is

Ok, well... This is the most modern road bike I have stripped down to this extent. It's 'modern' compared to my previous projects. I appreciate it's not cutting edge.

I'll go away now...!

its a great bike to work on buddy, strong, very well made imo and simple electrics not much to go wrong with it

fuel injection is great but there is a sh1t load of sensors and wires on the modern bikes,

also Fi is great for fuel economy but i don't think you can get a throttle response as smooth as a carb from the off

always get the on / off snatch with FI when opening and closing the throttle somthing you don't get with well set up carbs

just to get one side panel off the gixxer it was a pain, a mix of 17 tabs, screws and bolts to just get the side off!

Excellent job done at hammer and tongs. :)

Might be a bit cheeky, but how many pennies did you spend at Hammer & Tongs? The carbs on mine need doing but might have to wait till spring as I want to get the front end sorted first! 8O
Cost me 35 to put the bike on the dyno in the first place and then 170 to sort the carbs out. Well worth it in my opinion, is running really smooth now. Feels like a different bike. And it increased my bhp to 106 at the same time. Bonus.
