USA Charges

Anyone know if there is extra charges on 2nd hand parts from America purchased on ebay

Don't know if 2nd hand makes much difference, suspect you'll still get hit with import duty and probably "acceptance" charges by the courier, might get away with it if seller marks it up as a gift

I think they charge for pretty much everything now that comes from the States. Even if it's marked as gift as the limit is so low now to get around people that mark stuff up as gift.

I've got away with it a couple of times, and been hit some as well. Once was a second hand seat for a GT250M Suzook back in 2004 and they hit me on that one, then I imported some mudguards for the same bike from California and got away with it.
There was talk fairly recently of either reducing or scrapping the duty on bits from the US, however I haven't heard of it being implemented.

£36 worth is the max for gifts. Here;s one for a laugh! under section 2.6 no customs charges on toilet water.

yep, import duty, VAT and (probably) a handling charge from Post Office. You might get away with it, but not likely.

Carl's linky in pretty definitive. There's an online calculator too (have used this to work out if a US part plus charges is still cheaper than the stupid prices often charged for the same part in UK - sometimes works out). You get a few free uses of the thing before it wants you to pay up, if I remember right...

Bank on you will be charged import duty and VAT, then if you do get a way with it that's a bonus.

Didn`t get away with it, Got a pair of CBR 600 F4i front calipers and master cylinder £85 delivered but just got slapped for another £25 import duty so not that good of a deal really, Hope they improve the brakes
