Another Noob question!
Are there any fuel issues that I should be aware of.
Such as:
Will modern (Green) petrol additives have an adverse effect?
Should I run it on super unleaded or Premium?
Fuel Issues?
Re: Fuel Issues?
Ordinary cooking unleaded is more than enough unless you fit an ignition advancer or high comp pistons.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: Fuel Issues?
I recall comments somewhere that up to 10% ethanol is added to petrol and this can damage pre 2000 fuel systems. My bike is a 97 so I am concerned.
Here's where I read it: http://www.groups.tr-register.co.uk/wes ... pdate.html

Re: Fuel Issues?
Wouldn't worry overmuch, tbh.
It's going to be the fuel tap diaphragm that goes first.

Re: Fuel Issues?
Here in the Peoples Republic of California we have to run that @#$% in our fuel...... and I have had no ill effects on the rubber bit due to it.Moocher wrote:I recall comments somewhere that up to 10% ethanol is added to petrol and this can damage pre 2000 fuel systems. There are other issues with it but I wouldn't worry about it causing any damage to the fuel system but as always YMMV

Loud pipes don't save lives, knowing how to ride your bike will save your life.
Re: Fuel Issues?
I have heard that the high ethanol can melt plastic tanks, but again, that isn't an issue on our bikes.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!
