wiki says the storms weighs in at 192kg, is this correct?
theres seems to be a varied amount of answers to this question, has anyone weighed their storm?
i'm looking at getting a trolley jack for a bike lift, and I'm edging towards a 2.5t jack.
taking into account the weight of the lift.

That sounds about right. I seem to recall a discussion about this over the pond or was it somewhere else. Anyway is that weight with the standard cans or titanium race, is the tank full of fuel, and then there other little bits.

A 2.5 ton would be enough, 2.5 tin = 2267 kg according to google Yeh that will cover the bike and our weight if we sit on it too.

I'm beginning to wonder whether or not a trolley jack is a bit overkill. If those calculations are right then 2 thousand odd Kilo is loads. How about a bottle jack, it's easier to store as well. I hate maths I'm getting worse in my old age!!! I go all dyslexic with numbers and sums. The mind boggles.

OK who uses a bike workshop bench with no built in jack. What do you use?

the lifts max weight is 2500kg, the bike is 200kg, so I could get away with a 1 tonne/1000kg trolley jack.
as i'll never need the 2500kg max weight.
a quick action trolley jack is much easy to use, bottle jacks are a pain in the elbow. I can get a 1 or 2 tonne jack cheaply enough.

If you need the ramp up for a while a cheap trolley jack may leak, thus lowering the bike Marty.

I would say that's the dry weight

To be honest i miss the extra weight on the bike, the storm was so much more stable in high winds than the GSXR and the Fireblade even though the are both more wind tunnel focused

On the 166kg GSXR high winds are truly terrifying its easily thrown off line, the storm just ploughed through them no issues, what a bike that was!

I would but the gsxr saves me near 600 quid just on fuel comuteing to and from work, factor in weekend rides and you can probably add another 100 - 150 quid saving over the year

Bottle jack works just fine & you have more space to move around the bike

Sorted, 2ton quick lift Clarke trolley jack, the lift has a pair of pins that lock it in place, so no need for a bottle jack or axle stands.....

It certainly puts things in perspective when you do the sums. Is the insurance more for the gixxer.
