Well, that's a start of a plan at least... And keep in mind, making a uniform wrap over a full surface is usually more tricky than adding vinyl decals like suggested above, since as long as you get them visually lined up, a millimeter or so off is virtually unnoticeable across two adjacent things with the frame in between, like the fairing and tank, and when not doing the full surface you get a bit more wriggle room to smooth out your wrinkles, as the edges can move a little...Jamoi wrote:Cheers for the ideas, however I'm stupid and have ordered a small sheet of vinyl to see how tricky it is!

having said that, the new 4d bubble free wrap is easier to use than previous types of vinyl wrap, the main problem will be the fuel tank. choose a easy piece to start with i'd suggest the headlight surround. get used to using the vinyl, heres what I learnt.
always cut the piece of vinyl a fair bit bigger that what you will need, theres nothing worse than getting to the end of a piece of fairing and finding out you cut it to xmall
start in the middle and work outwards.
use a heat gun or hairdryer when you need to do tricky corners/edges/shapes
buy the best quality vinyl you can afford.
buy a very sharp craft knife for the tricky cuts.
I used a sharpened sponge & a set of plastic round end scissors as I'm not aloud near anything sharper.
if you go for a carbon weave effect, make sure you line the pattern up, otherwise it will look naff.
prick any air bubbles with a pin/craft knife and work the air out.
make sure the surface is clean to begin with.
don't pull to hard on the vinyl as it will tear.
that's all I can think of for now.
But that would be a bodge as you supposed to have pushed the air out beforehand.prick any air bubbles with a pin/craft knife and work the air out.
