I have a soft spot for the bandit :-(
A friend of mine had a 600 with a gsxr750 engine in :-) and a k8 front end - it's nuts and will sit on the back wheel all day

Dont say these things so loudly, my sv may hear you !!

You are right you can certainly tell were corners have been cut but the second gen is a lot better than the first one. I think this can be said for all budget 600 (Japanese) . There is a guy at work whose gt a new Yamaha diversion and it looks cheap.

The really big postive for the sv, you buy them for £5,100 brand new. A lot of bike for the money !!

I had a Mk1 1200 bandit for 6 years, although they are cheaply made they have a great grin factor.

A nice short wheelbase for wheelies & stoppies

Only sold it coz I got banned

SV 650 is a damn good bike & that is what I would use for a track bike as you will be able to use all of its usable power.
