Which manual are you referring too. If you mean the Honda manual then no....that only covers it under cam installation and don't cover static timing as a step by step guide and why should it. It's aimed at mechanics who should understand the principles of engines and how they work. You don't think a garage keeps workshop manuals for every vehicle on the shelf do you. Most mechanics wont even refer to a manual and the only manual that a garage should have/will have lying around is a technical spec/data manual (no pictures) for torque settings, and clearances etc. Most likely a Snap On one.

And as for Haynes I think that only really covers timing under the valve clearance check where they get you to set things at tdc on the compression stroke as this is where both valves are closed with no tension on anything. The cct removal/replacement which are Honda tensioners only, it will get you to wind the tensioner off first with the key and remove it without setting with the timing. :eek2 you could probably get away with it if you cable tie the chain to the cam sprockets and delicately wind up and remove the old tensioner but it don't tell you this either.

So in answer to your question...no it's not in the workshop manual specifically. Well, not that I can find it.

That was a long winded answer. No I dont think every garage has every workshop manual for every bike, thats obvious, but you would at least expect the workshop manual to have something as important as that in it.

True that.

It's all there in a roundabout way but not directly related to changing tensioners.

Stupid really, not specific about setting tdc, but probably shows you how to change a spark plug

No it tells you how to set things to TDC for valve clearances but not specifically for tensioners.

It should tell you every instance tdc is required though, that is my point. Anyway, think we've hijacked this thread enough, sorry folks.

Yes slightly off topic but at least it's relevant to Theo's issues and it informs any future readers.

Good afternoon!

Well, it is a resurrection after all! I got a call from my mechanic saying that I'm very lucky not bending valves or doing other damage! The chain jumped only two teeth!
He got compression ad was OK!(cylinder compr) The bike is ready for ride, I'm gonna pick her up when I finish work of the day in one hour!

I got lucky, but I won't do anything to her after all these.

I will buy her a pair of OEM used exhausts and an exhaust piping OEM to get her running nice and smooth (also will get rid of the K&N filter) because the Motoriwaki (Zero) titanium exhausts are leaking (due fell off the previous rider)
So is the piping system. It got dents especially in front cylinder. All these comprise a not smooth engine operation and of course, lack of performance!!!

I'm looking forward chatting with all you guys, of my next project (Xenon lights with projector!) Relax Iwont ruin it! haah :P I fitted Signal lights (LED) with relay!!
Thank you all
