As from the photos I am able to get a nut fully onto the remaining thread. How would be the best way to extract this offending nuisance? Carl I do believe you have this same issue. Have you been able to sort it as yet.

All ideas much appreciated
To be honest plus gas won't do anything apart from making your garage smell nice :-) .darkember wrote:Thanks Mac will be soaking if for the next week with plus gas & seeing if I can rent a welder to spot weld that nut on. Would be interested to hear the dremel method.

Alternatively, use a ball joint hammer and tap the protruding thread which will flare it out and after some time, would be flush with the nut and offer a good bind for removing. In addition, lube it up considerably and give it a couple of decent taps with a hammer in an attempt to loosen/ free it up a bit, best done two/ three times a day for a few days to increase chance of success. This has been successful for me in the past.MacV2 wrote: Weld a nut on, Grind flats to get a spanner on, even dremell a fraction of the head off.

Get ya dermal out with a big black cutting disc on and remove 3mm of ali from the base of the stud .
Step two .
Fit a pink grinding bit in the dermal and grind two flats on opposing sides of the stud till you can just tap fit an 8mm spanner on .
Step three .
Go in the house and have a fewso it all can cool down .
Step four .
Heat lots of it . Heat up the ali around the stud with a blow touch then fit the spanner and tap the top of the stud with a small hammer and undo the stud .
8mm spanner the stud is well smaller than that even a 7mm is too large, managed to tap fit a 6mm. Hopefully that will do. How long do u apply heat to the surrounding area for before tapping & turning??
Step five don't try to undo a exhaust nut again as it's much less hassle to use a splitter to start with :-)
Damn thing will not budgelloydie wrote:Not long 30 seconds or so
