Re: Electric ninja?
Not another electric bike
I have not embraced loosing combustion engines yet.

Really? I'd love a go on an electric bike! They make ic engines seem so antiquated and un efficient.
Don't get me wrong though, they could never replace my storm for all it's character and charm, but the advancements in electric bikes & batteries really interest me. I'd like to see a side by side future for electric and ic bikes
Bit pricey at the mo though

I like my exhaust and the noise and smells. I also enjoy getting my hands greasy and being able to repair/service things myself.

True, I like that aspect of it all too. But could you imagine having 150bhp instantly! No revs, hesitation or relenting! You could programme your own torque curves!
It would get boring if all you could physically work on is a bolt on motor and bolt on battery though!

Re: Electric ninja?
when they make a electric bike low in weight and high in usable power with a range of 400 fast hard miles i would have one

Re: Electric ninja?
Think about it, as technology gets better these motorcycles will get faster and more usable, go back to the first motorcycles and look at the combustion engine now, its the same principle but with electric or whatever they decide to use, however they have a much greater leap in performance over the beggings of the combustion engine.lloydie wrote:when they make a electric bike low in weight and high in usable power with a range of 400 fast hard miles i would have one

i dont think it will be long before they have the technology for them to be practical and functional in modem life
but with the fuel prices and the government's and large company cut out of it will they release it ?

Personally I dont think the government and the oil companies are going to let the electric vehice becomein functional for modern life until they are out of bussiness because they isnt enough oil to make it viable for vehicle, so then it will be a case of do or die so to speak.lloydie wrote:i dont think it will be long before they have the technology for them to be practical and functional in modem life

Re: Electric ninja?
Agree fully

Re: Electric ninja?
Battery tech and cost is the obstacle. The hi-tech packs are currently a costly outlay and need replacing after so many charge cycles which contribute to running costs. While performance has been gradually improving, range and recharge times are problematic.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

I'm holding off until my new Dark Matter propulsion unit is fully working. At the moment it runs, but has, erm, side effects.
But the recharge time is in the nanoseconds range, and you get a free sun tan.
And the bike only runs in big circles under Cern.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

This is what I mean, these I personally think are just hurdles waiting to be jumped, its only a matter of time, of course if it really is battery powered vehicles that do take over, personally I think the next gen of vehicle will be petrol/electrical and I dont think it will be long untill the ban petrol only vehicles in cities.Wicky wrote:Battery tech and cost is the obstacle.
