Sad but happy sort of !

Well I never thought I would sell the SP1 but have accepted an offer I could not refuse, I thought long and hard but cleaning and staring with a little riding thrown in is not why I want bikes, this is basically what I have been doing with the SP1 as it was simply to good to use, especially in poor weather.
On the bright side I took a lurverly blade in px, 2 owner and low miles, even better I have freed up funds to buy something to do up (VTR ) So now I have something to ride and will be able to get mi hands dirty by breathing life in to a project, much more in keeping with why I have bikes. I could have gone the new bike route but would have ended up feeling the same as I did the SP1, not wanting to ruin it, although the pull of a mint bmw1000rr almost caught me out.

Know what you mean about the SP though, the good, clean ones do look too good to take out sometimes! Mines tucked up till next season.

That blade looks almost as good as CheekyKev's one. Sounds like you made the right move, no point in having a bike as an ornament

Have you considered becoming a salesman? You seem to be very good at buying mint bikes, selling them and then getting another one

I can imagine how you felt with the SP though, it's the same with your old firestorm it gets dirty too quickly and I spend as much time cleaning it as I do riding it

Pity about the SP, but at least you've got a bike that you can use for everything and more, you won't be sorry about getting a FireBlade, they are a fantastic bike, in my opinion they are one of the best all round bikes ever made
I have a Fireblade RRW and love it, I also have a FireStorm
But I'm lucky enough to able to keep my SP2
A few years ago, just like you, I had to make a choice whether to get something new or not, when my first FireStorm was getting on a bit I thought should I go for something new or use the same amount of money to buy the bikes I've always wanted but could never afford, well you see from the list what I did, I sold the older FireStorm, but because I enjoyed riding it so much bought a younger RED one, then looked around for about a year before finding an excellent condition low millage FireBlade, then spent a further 18 months before I found an excellent low millage SP2, they're all great bikes and I enjoy riding each one of them, just hope I'll be able to keep them

Glad your enjoying the bike - id be no good at sales, I lost to much letting the matte go !!!! - by the way I saw another matte black one outside Hunts in Stockport about 2 weeks back, apparently sold from new by them as well.

Ahh more of them is always good. I still haven't seen any more of them, saddens me as it's such a beautiful paint job for it.

When do you think you'll be getting a new 'storm then?

Well im in two minds, a late newer model or something older to tailor to my taste, I suppose its more to do with watching the field to see if anything jumps out at me. You never know, I may end up with a cheap enough newer model that will leave me enough funds to tailor

Should have bought a knackered old SP1, then you could have done it up a bit, ridden it in the snow, left it dirty, and had a lot more fun than the perfect one...
Just my own view, I know lots of you disagree.
Nice blade, too early to be a Blade, isn't it?
