Screws on seat fairing bit confused

Screws on seat fairing bit confused

so fitted a new give rack again :mrgreen:
But when i've come to put fairing back on the screws just go straight through like im missing some rubbers or something :problem:

It's the screws what are on top of fairing and go on them steel sticky out bit towards back

There should be a threaded section within rubber - explore with your fingers underneath the metal 'finger's find em and push em up to meet the screw when pushing down with a screwdriver.

It looks like no. 18 - rubber flange with integral nut fing that pushes into holes in subframe. Slip it in after dropping it in hot water to soften it with some washing up liquid lube.

Try captive nuts, they just push in place, then you can use a heavy gauge self tapper.

Get strong ones, and they work fine.
File the point off the self tapper to avoid it going into wires.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
