Cheers Kev, I'll bear it in mind.
If you do decide to try a Welder, disconnect the battery before you start, assuming the cylinder head is still on the bike,

Chris.

Same point as I am at. Going to try Popkat's method in drilling it with the head still on. Have managed to raise the bike 6" higher using a block of wood, would like to get it even higher by using a block & tackle off my garage rafters to give me a good angle to drill with.

I'm going to suspend the front end and drop the forks out so I can get under it and see what I'm doing. Got to grind the remaining stud flat first, but should be ok, just want it done now!! I'll use it as an excuse to repaint the fork lowers and change the oil. Calipers were coming off anyway as I've got braided lines to fit.

Oh I know that feeling. I got to the point of giving up and rode down to the local welders with the downpipe half hanging off and just got him to spot weld the bracket on the downpipe back up to the cylinder head where the stud snapped so I could ride the bike around. It;s my only transport!!! It lasted over a year until I went to the dyno run in Birmingham.

I'm feeling your pain both of you. In future I'm just going to do as Lloydie does.

No... not shag sheep and walk gay dogs.
