Wanted- scrap petrol tank

Post by tony.mon »

As part of the airbox project I need to know how to seal the airbox sides and rear against the underside of the tank.
No point cutting up a good or usable one, but has anyone got a completely wrecked, smashed/holed/dented one with an intact base?
No filler cap, sender unit or tap needed.

I'm planning to cut the top off, leaving just the base, then I can cut a window in the base and see where the airbox will seal against it, using some non-porous foam sealant strips.

So no, it won't be a borrow and return!

Happy to pay postage and something for your trouble, and once I've finished, if anyone else wants to try the same mod, it'll get passed on.

Oh, and 16 litre one is fine, don't scrap a 19 litre one for god's sake....
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Iv still got the one I took off mine as it had a little dent the size of a 5p piece on it caused by my bars when I got knocked off a couple of years ago.

To be honest its still in decent usable condition and not what would be classed as scrap.

Think I'll keep it for now.

Good luck in your quest Tony.

Thank you very much, please let me know what you want for it.

Don't worry about pics. seriously, all I need is the base!
I'll get the angle grinder warmed up.

Excellent news
