Crash bobbin/mushroom thingys

Just booked my first ever track day for Cadwell next month, and whilst I have no intention of binning it, I'm thinking maybe those crash bobbin jobbies might be a good idea... Anyone had any experience of using these on VTRs? Any recommendations, or ones to avoid? Cheers folks

Hiya men, I fitted Motrax ones at £70 after lowsiding on an island over a year ago and doing damage to cans,clutch cover and the worst one of all the fairing. Since then the bike has been on its side twice at very low speeds. Once when i stupidly let my girlfriend sit on it and the other was when i pulled off from my side road in 1st gear, cold tyres,damp roads, back end right round shut throttle off, Bobs your uncle fannys your aunt bike on tarmac!!! What a tw@! But for the grace of god and Motrax one slight scratch to my can. Highly recomended

I'm meeting the bloke that makes the set I had on my VTR on thursday/friday and will ask him how much they are and try and get some discount. The company is TES. They mount to a stainless steel bracket that attaches to the centre engine mounting bolts and the cross-spar on the frame. No holes needed in fairing. I'm having some extra long bolts made so the will fit straight onto the centre engine mounting lugs.

Firestorm 996 knows what make they are as I got em from him.

Well, went to see TES and they do a set of really nice crash bobbins. They consist of 2 parts. There's two tasty billet adaptors, they fit on to the front engine mounting bolt. They extend onto the frame spare (the one that links to the rectangular section that the tank sits on) and then each have two grub screws that grip the frame (these could probably be shimed if you don't want marks on the frame cross spar but it's shity cast anyway). The bobbins then screw into the billet adaptors. You do not have to drill or modify the fairing at all, the only thing you have to do is remove the fairing to fit the adaptors. The bobbins can be made of either nylon or alloy, personally I think the alloy ones look the bollox. He's gonna email me a photo and then I'll get somebody to upload it. The bobbins can be any length you want and are about 50mm diameter but could be made small if you want.

The price is about £80 a set which is really good for what you get as I've seen just bobbins and a long bolt for more than that, I think the adaptors are worth more than that. Anyway if a few people want them I'll see if he will give us a discount.
