I fitted a 250ml clear bottle in a visible location and filled it half way the other day

Put the bike on a rear paddock stand and ran it up to temp.

As it was running I noticed bubbles coming out the overflow pipe into the bottle .
I thought they be from the pipe as it was empty from moving it from its old location .

When it reached temp I turned it off and the coolant level in the catch bottle hadn't moved however earlier today I went into the garage and had a look at the level in the bottle and it had dropped to 1/4 !!! So this proves that when cooling down the coolant system will refill itself from the reserve bottle if needed :-)

Learn something new every day :-)

That's pretty cool mate! Nice to see the science in action. Seems to be a bit like an expansion vessel on a heating system.
