Exhaust header to port gaskets.
Exhaust header to port gaskets.
Ordered some new ones. Had a quick look yesterday, looks like a right pig to get the old ones out, and I'm tempted to leave well alone. Whats the score chaps ??

Re: Exhaust header to port gaskets.
Unless one of them is leaking/blowing, or you want to remove the headers for another reason, there is not point in renewing them IMHO.
As you probably know by now Lee, if you do deciide to renew them, removing the headers will be the hardest part

Re: Exhaust header to port gaskets.
Don't worry! It's easy, if you get a small flat bladed screwdriver you can poke it behind the gasket and gently lever it out.

They're off already. I have another set hanging up in the garage in really good nick, pretty much like new, so I was going to use them, clean mine up & sell them. didnt want to start gouging out the washers to then wish I'd not touched them, if you know what I mean.sirch345 wrote:Unless one of them is leaking/blowing, or you want to remove the headers for another reason, there is not point in renewing them IMHO.

Re: Exhaust header to port gaskets.
Lol, I guessed that when I saw Jamoi's reply. In that case definitely worth changing. pop them out with a small flat blade screwdriver as Jamoi says. Scrap away any carbon on the ports and the headers, then you're ready to refit.leevtr wrote: They're off already. On another note while you're there just in case you haven't, or missed reading about it, others have cleaned up the welds on the headers. The welds I'm mentioning are the ones sat just inside the header neck at the port joint end. You will need a Dremel or similar type tool to do that. You may not want to do yours, but I thought it worth mentioning while yours are already off.
