Pilot Screw Adjustment.
Pilot Screw Adjustment.
Should I be posting this in Workshop ??
Anyway, not sure what way I'm going with dynojet kit or not, but with regards to setting the pilot screw correctly as per page 5-18 of the manual, it seems no mater what you do, it ends up at the same setting anyway,. Is there a point to all the kerfuffle ?? I dont own a tachometer, and dont want to buy one to use it once. If it has to be done, so be it. Also, I'll need to purchase a mixture screwdriver, but certainly aint going to spend 50 quid on one. Machine mart do one for £17.99, but not sure if it will get in there, looks tight to me.
Cheers

Re: Pilot Screw Adjustment.
I've never followed the honda instructions as I don't have an inductive multimeter with an RPM pickup.
One day I shall buy myself one of these.

I do my mixture by ear. Start at 2.5 turns out. Turn the screw in until you hear a change/drop in revs, then turn the screw out until you hear a change/drop in revs. Then set it between the two. You also have to listen to the crispness of the engine. Then verify with the blip test.

These are supposed to fit but I've not tried one.

I could see it being tricky as I still struggle slightly with the rear carb with my Motion Pro.

Re: Pilot Screw Adjustment.
get some thumb mixture screws from the superhawk forum
Re: Pilot Screw Adjustment.
I'm not planning on adjusting them on a regular basis, otherwise I would.lloydie wrote:get some thumb mixture screws from the superhawk forum

Re: Pilot Screw Adjustment.
This is what you need but a little expensive. Actually it costs $30 more than the hand crafted thumb screws.

Re: Pilot Screw Adjustment.
Actually if you want a genuine Honda one I believe they make one specifically for this bike but they are hard to find and cost silly money.

That looks like a Motion Pro copy. Look at the pics of my one in the above link in my post and compare. It may be the picture on eBay but the detailing does not look as clean and the colour is wrong including the gear wheels. If it was a genuine Motion pro surly the add would mention the name. This is what you need but a little expensive. Actually it costs $30 more than the hand crafted thumb screws.

Re: Pilot Screw Adjustment.
That is the trick to getting one..... find someone else who paid full price and doesn't need it anymore..... then they become reasonable but it does make the job much easiercybercarl wrote:I know I remember when that one came up for sale on the Hawk site.
