Another exhaust question.
Another exhaust question.
I'm still not overly convinced I like the high levels I have so they're on the bay. I'm starting to think the best thing for me to do is a partial bafflectomy on a set of standard cans ( as I like the look of the originals, just not the lack of volume ).
Anyone currently running modded standards ??

Another exhaust question.
They sound great I ran them last year when my 2-1 carbon leo went pop , the only thing I didn't like was the weight and theirs a lot of it !!
And it made the most power I'd seen from it too with them :-)
And you'll never have a problem at mot time as they're standard .

Cheers Lloydie, did you do a partial or full ?? And any fuelling adjustments.
Couldnt care less about the weight really, I ain't carrying them. My CB1300's were all 236kgs dry, and still went round a corner well.
I've always liked the way the standard pipes taper inwards at the back, keeping it slim. None of the aftermarkets are like that.

Re: Another exhaust question.
I ran it with standard jetting but using 48s pilots and standard air filter and full bafflectomy and it ran spot on .
Your worse then me for changing exhaust

Think mine has 48 pilots anyway, being a 2001. And I'm the first to admit that mate. I think I want the bike to look as standard as poss, with the benefits of a bit of v twin rumble, let the b&stards hear me coming.

Re: Another exhaust question.
I have a set of standard cans and am sorely tempted to put them back on in place of the brutally loud ART cans currently fitted (and as the bike is being MOT'd as soon as it's rebuilt). Are the standard cans really quiet, or is there still a nice burble from them?
I'm so unlucky that if there is such a thing as re-incarnation I'll come back as me!

Re: Another exhaust question.
if I was you lee, I'd do a partial bafflectomy, maybe start with 4 drill holes, release some of the v twin sound..

HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!

I can't even hear them stationary with my ear plugs inMav617 wrote:I have a set of standard cans and am sorely tempted to put them back on in place of the brutally loud ART cans currently fitted (and as the bike is being MOT'd as soon as it's rebuilt). I think I'll have a play with a set on Saturday. I've got 2 sets of standard cans so out with the drill. Think I'll not go full, I just want a bassy boom, not something to made my ears bleed.....for this week Lloydie anyway

Re: Another exhaust question.
the full baffelectomy isnt loud its just right . try one hole at a time in both cans on the outer edge till you get the sound you like .
keeping the holes on the edge makes it easier if you choose to do it fully as there will be less to clean up .

Re: Another exhaust question.
I agree, it sounds wombles gorgeous too. You don't quite get the same range of noise as a baffled standard can, it's a bit more generic across the rev range I guess? (i.e. it doesn't start roaring at 5k and screaming satanic rituals at 8-9k like they do when baffled), but still not a bad sound in the slightestlloydie wrote:the full baffelectomy isnt loud its just right ..
