Redex/Petrol Additives?

Post by Mav617 »

Anyone use Redex or similar fuel additives? Do they help or is it marketing bollox?
I'm so unlucky that if there is such a thing as re-incarnation I'll come back as me!

Mav, this link ( http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=13885 ) should be enough to put you off using Redex  Admittedly the O/P did admit it was self inflicted and had he used it as per instructions it most likely would have been okay.

However my opinion is it's not really needed in today's fuels as such, as I/C (internal combustion) engines run much cleaner than they did many years ago. Ask yourself when was the last time you heard of an engine having a decoke :?:

YES in 1976!!! fuel is so good now, i just swap between garages and use the 99 Ron stuff, 4 garages round here that have it.
missing the noise, not the vibes. However never say never!

Fuel is pretty good now and valve seats are well tempered these days hardened
off for unleaded fuels.. a spot will not do any harm , high revving engines are well
engineered and designed to be taken full out though .. it just a personal choice ..
I cant help thinking about the aroma of " Casi R" belched out from a nostalgic Norton or Triumph
in the early halycon days of racing ... sweet
