keeping the holes on the edge makes it easier if you choose to do it fully as there will be less to clean up .
I have standard cans on my VTR. I don't mind the quiet grumble, but i bought the bike with the intention of changing the cans to make it growl.
Could you let me know where exactly you're drilling the holes, so i can have a go on my bike tonight?
The full job seems like a b8stard and best left to a crappy weekend in the garage.
Cheers
When your looking at the rear of the can, the end 'Spout' will have a smaller diameter 'spout' inside it. You want to drill the holes in the flat plate between the two 'spouts'. Use a centre punch & mark 4 spots at 12, 3, 6 & 9 o/c Drill upto oh say 10mm holes at each spot. Refit exhaust & enjoy the extra noise. Not loud enough ? Drill an extra 4 holes & try again.
When you want the full bafflectomy drill through all the bridges of metal to cut the plate completely. Now hammer time ! Thwack the inner spout inwards. Pull it back out with long nose pliers, bash it back in & repeat pull, thwack pull until the weld at the far end gives in & remove baffle!
Now grind off all the rough edges & you have one can fully de-baffled repeat on the other can.
The drilling & thwacking is the easy bit TBH tiding up is a longer process but worth it in the long run.
