WHICH FRONT FORKS FIT??? HELPPP!

Post by Theodio »

Good day ya all!

I'm thinking of replacing he crapy front end of the storm with a newer, better USD from another bike (possible another brand bike) but which one??

I'm in love with an Kawasaki zx6r USD fork? Can I fit it how???

929/954 Blade front fits straight in. I'm sure you can make most fit.

Anything can fit, you will have to source a number of new parts: top and bottom triple yokes made and fitted to the original spindle, new clip ons, mudguard, front wheel, calipers to suit the USD forks, also there are some issues with handle bars interfering with the tank and the fairing, but my concern would be reducing the turning circle with a larger diameter fork and the geometry change in the bike, and the cost.

There has been many discussions on here between spending say £400 on getting the standard forks setup professionally by Mr Ditchfield(other fork specialists are available) or £1200 - 1500(could be cheaper if time spent looking) on a new front end and their benefits. I think it is personal preference but a consensus is that it comes down to the bling value, rather than the significant improvement in handling.

Cheekykev has had standard fork Rogered and he said it changed the bike completely.

Maybe some of the other guys on here can chip in and say that the cost of a new front end improved the bike significantly over a standard set being Rogered!

I've only ridden Al's bike and that was well sorted, but mine has the 954 blade front end and brakes etc ,I think it feels very planted and pointy/twitchy if that makes sense, bazza is right about losing some steering lock it turns like a bloody oil tanker at slow speed ,but is great when it goes light at speed, can be tyring on long runs even though I have a variable bar top yoke.hence me going back to a naked bike with upright riding.

I've ridden carls bike with a 90% rodgered set of forks, loved them, felt great compared to the lowish mileage standard forks I had on my bike at the time, but I've also ridden many miles on my bike with a 954 front end, even more planted although I found it twitchy to begin with at slow speeds, it only took a very minor imput and the bike would react very sharply.
but once I had the 954 forks set up properly it was miles better.....
HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!

I'm sure someone on here has fitter ZX6R forks because they are cheaper and easier to find or something. Who was the guy that done that awesome video of him and his mates going around the track. Good editing and great video with a bit of comedy added in.

I shall have a search!

Mmm it might be motorstorm I'm thinking of

At a quick guess, I expect the Firestorm brake disks will be to small in diameter :problem: and or as well the spindle size won't work with either fork upgrade,
