Am i screwd, TPS...?

Post by shoarmadude »

Hey guys,

today i started to put my bike back together, when mounting my carb in place heard something snap.
At first i tought it was a cable getting into place or something.

But when i removed my TPS, i noticed that it had snapped.
When i read the howto about adjusting the TPS, its saying that when you break it its new carb time. :wtf:

Look at the pick, ive been thinking to glue the bits together with 2 component glue.

Help needed, good weather is coming so id like to be up and running then.

Afaik mate it's if you snap the peg on the carb that it's carb time 8O . I'm sure tps is replaceable. I'm no expert though like the other lads and lasses :?

That little tongue is not under a great deal of leverage and torque, as the spring it's pushing against isn't very strong.
Certainly a repair is worth a try, also possibly aralditing a small "splint" to it, if there's clearance between the face of the tongue and the housing- a pop rivet stem would do.

Luckily a set of carbs isn't that expensive, but check that they have the tps fitted before bidding...
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I should make that little more clearer. If you look at the price of a new TPS or even used on it's own, one may as well buy a set of used carbs unless they find a TPS being sold separate. Most people sell the TPS as part of the carbs :!: Used carbs sell from £30 -£80 ish on Ebay, so can be used as a donor.

(:-})

Owh thats good to know haha.

I just found a bike for parts in holland, so hopefully they sell the tps without carbs.
Those Tps's are not easy to find

Dont know if the guy in the sale topic, sells his tps without carb.
Im not able to post in that topic yet.

Thanks for cooling down my frustrations hahaha

That little black disk thingie does that turn with the spring or is it locked in place?

Any help is appreciated
The only thing is that shipping from UK to Holland isnt cheap and vice versa.
So actually im only looking for a loose TPS, cause it can be chipped in an envelop with bubbles inside
Im trying to find one in Holland, only i dont really know the dutch translation for TPS, cause im always googling in english haha

Ill will also try to fix the old one, only i dont know how the spring and disc where mounted originally cause it came loose.

Try "Opname-element stand smoorklep" for Throttle Position Sensor, or "gaspedaal positie sensor"

I tried the first translation and I got a side stand
