New stormer!

Post by fire_on »

Howdy all.

After a couple of ninja 600's and a break from riding for a few years I've now found myself owning a vtr. A very fresh example with 6600 on the clock and really enjoyed it so far.

The stories on here about ccts have me slightly nervous though so will be fixing that before I go much further.

One question I do have is that the gear change in up in to second and third seems notchy. Might just be me getting used to it/not being positive enough but if anyone has similar experience would appreciate a heads up.

Other than that a new set of boots and I'm looking forward to a nice summer!!!!

Cheers,
Bill

Welcome to the forum! Think the gear change is a standard fixture, mine is the same!

Old habits die hard :) It may be you're riding it a bit like your old inline four without realising it by revving the Storm in the lower gears much more than you need to, you need to be using the torque man. From 1st to 2nd gear is the most clunky for me, I find I changing up into 2nd gear as soon as possible helps.

Oops I nearly forgot, welcome to the forum Bill

Wow that looks like a new bike!

Welcome along

If you pop your location up, there maybe someone nearby willing to give you a hand with addressing the standard cct situation, although you may be happy doing it by yourself

Thanks for the welcomes.

I'm up in Aberdeen but if there is anyone up here or recommendations of somewhere to go to get it done they'd be most welcome. Tempted to try it myself but always nice to have some knowledge/experience on hand to stop me screwing it up completely.

Welcome to the mad house.
what's the definition of (shire), North or South of Aberdeen?
doing the CCT's does feel scary, but it really is a piece of piss.
I'm in Forfar, so if you're going to do it yourself and want someone to look over your shoulder, give me a shout. just be patient getting the covers off.

What year is your steed, it looks mint.
Don't hassle me
I'll get there at some time

It's an 03 plate and very tidy apart from prev owner dropped it on the right hand side and there's a small crack in the fairing.

Otherwise it's immaculate.

I'm in the north of the shire but cheers for the offer. Just discovered my cousin has the same ride (hey Scott, expect a call/visit re the cct change over :P ) hopefully he can help but if not I'll give you a shout.

And yes I'm a follower of the sheep so today is a good day all round.
